The Vision and Mission: The Somali Bantu Community Association of Onondaga County Inc. (the
“association”) was established to promote Bantu cultural programs intended to inform about Bantu
life in the United States and to promote programs directed to assisting and aiding the Bantu community in and around Onondaga
County, New York in attaining the necessary skills, language competency and resources to overcome poverty and become functioning
members of Society.
The vision of Somali Bantu Community Association Services is to
integrate the Somali Bantu community fully into American life, with harmony and peace, while maintaining Somali Bantu culture
and values. Also, the mission of Somali Bantu Community Services is to provide a welcoming place for the Somali Bantu community,
especially for youth and families seeking services related to problems they are facing today. The organization works to build
bridges between the Somali Bantu community and mainstream US culture through academic and cultural programs. To develop and
strengthen the capacity of the Somali Bantus in Onondaga County at individual, family, and community levels.
Moreover,
the Somali Bantu Community Services of Syracuse is a community based service organization. One of our primary objectives are
to work for the success of Somali Bantu and the refugees to go through a smooth transitional process and attain a self-sustainable
status in their new country and increase community Integration. The Organizational
set up consists of a Board of directors, Executive, and supporting staff, volunteers, elders and community leaders.The sole
role of SBCA is to further the common welfare and well-being of the Somali Bantu community in
the State of New York and also to promote and instill in them the American ideals that will help them and result in their
eventual successful settlement in the U.S. SBCA is an inclusive organization that is dedicated
to improve the well-being and quality of life of refugees and their families, and to preserve their diverse cultural heritage.
The Somali Bantu Community Association (SBCA)
is there to develop programs and strategies to improve the quality of life for Somali Bantus and refugees in Syracuse and
Onondaga County in the State of New York. Our purpose is to improve the quality of life for Somali Bantu refugees by community
intervention, consultation, public education, settlement assistance and community services.We are an association of individuals
who assist individuals and families with adjustments, settlement and integration.
